Worcester Public Schools and Worcester Head Start - Read for the Record 2017

Join us on October 19, 2017 to be a part of the world’s largest shared reading experience — bringing together over 2 million people each year in classrooms, libraries, community centers, and homes across the US. This annual campaign was launched over a decade ago to highlight the importance of building early literacy and language skills for EVERY child, so that all children have the opportunity to enter kindergarten prepared to succeed.

This year’s Read for the Record book is Quackers, by Liz Wong, a delightful story about a kitten who grows up believing he’s a duck, until the day he meets another kitten. What follows is a sweet tale about understanding, acceptance, and learning. Through the generosity of Jumpstart, United Way of Central Mass, Abbvie, UMass Memorial, and Loomis Sayles all Preschool, Head Start and Kindergarten students in the Worcester Public Schools will be receiving a copy of this fabulous book for their home library.

There is also a wonderful event being held at the Worcester Public Library – Main Branch from 4-5pm. Please join us as we celebrate reading across Worcester.
